Jasprit Bumrah To Play In Ranji Trophy To Prove Fitness

Team India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will feature for Gujarat in the ongoing Ranji Trophy to prove his fitness as he gears up to return to international cricket. Notably, the All India National Selection Committee headed by MSK Prasad have picked Bumrah for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka followed by the ODI series against Australia.
The 25-year-old Jasprit Bumrah sustained a minor stress fracture in his lower back in September which kept him out of the series against South Africa and Bangladesh and most recently against West Indies. Many expected Jasprit Bumrah to return to action for the Test series against the Bangla Tigers, but the management didn’t want to risk him considering the ICC T20 World Cup looming ahead.

Jasprit Bumrah to play in Ranji Trophy
The fast bowler from Gujarat recently returned t0 full-fledged training when he bowled to India batsmen ahead of the second ODI against the West Indies in Visakhapatnam last week. And now, Jasprit Bumrah will appear in a Rani Trophy game for Gujarat to prove his fitness. Gujarat, who are coming back from a convincing win over Hyderabad, will play their second game against Kerala starting from December 25 (Wednesday).
Bumrah, who last played international cricket when India toured West Indies will look to come all guns blazing and reclaim his spot in the playing XI. He has been the go-to bowler from Virat Kohli across formats, and the management will look forward to seeing him at his personal best when he resumes playing international cricket.
The three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starts from January 5 while the ODI series against Australia commences from January 11.
