India’s gun speedster Jasprit Bumrah has won the Men’s breakthrough performance of the year award for 2018. Bumrah had a stellar year in 2018 where he bowled like a wind. On the other side, India’s batswoman Jemmiah Rodrigues has won the woman’s breakthrough performance of the year award.

Both these talisman players were rewarded for their sublime performance throughout the year in 2018. Jasprit Bumrah had a staggering start to his Test career as he ticked the right boxes on the tour of South Africa, England, and Australia.

Bumrah had a stellar year.

The Gujarat paceman went on to take giant strides in his young Test career as he scalped 49 wickets in 10 Test matches. Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah has done a great job in limited overs format for the Indian team. Thus, he is going to hold the key in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

Bumrah and Rodrigues have been rewarded by the Indian Sports Honours which helps in excelling in sports. The Indian Sports Honours works with the Virat Kohli foundation. The foundation conducted a poll on Twitter for the various awards.

Meanwhile, the four nominees in the Men’s category were Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Pawan Sherawat and Jeremy Lalrinnunga. On the other hand, the four nominees in the Women’s category were Jemimah Rodrigues, Manu Bhaker, Manika Batra, and Swapna Barman.

Jasprit Bumrah led the charts on the votes as he had a fine year with the ball. Bumrah who had shown the great promise in the white ball format carried the same confidence into the red ball version. On the other hand, Jemmiah Rodrigues got more than 50% of the votes.

Meanwhile, the ceremony of these attacks was postponed by India skipper Virat Kohli due to Pulwama attacks. 42 CRPF were martyred after a brutal terrorist attack.
