India A and India B locked horns in the first match of the Deodhar Trophy at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Asked to bat first, India B put up a challenging total of 302 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Baba Aparajith starred with the bat by scoring 113 and 101 respectively.

In reply, India A came up with a disastrous batting performance and were all out for just 194 in the 48th over. Skipper Hanuma Vihari was the only one who showed some resistance as he scored a fighting fifty. India A never looked in contention to chase down the total as their chase was off the track right from the start.

And during the dull chase, it was Jaydev Unadkat’s hilarious run-out that injected some life in the contest. The incident took place in the 43rd over of the innings when India B were all but sure of winning the game. India A were reeling at 176 for 7 with Jaydev Unadkat taking on Shahbaz Nadeem who recently made his India debut.

On the fifth delivery of the over, Jaydev Unadkat came down the track and played a defensive push towards the cover. At that moment, it looked like the fielder would throw the ball to the bowler and the action will resume again. However, the fielder threw the ball to the wicketkeeper and the latter took the bail off in a flash.

In the meantime, Jaydev Unadkat was well out of his crease as he perhaps forgot to get back inside his crease. Parthiv Patel was all smiles after affecting the stumping while a shocked Unadkat walked back to the pavilion. Jaydev Unadkat managed just 1 run from seven ball.

Here is a clip of that bizarre run-out:
