England Test captain Joe Root has confirmed the birth of his second child with wife Carrie Cotterell. The couple became the parents for the first time in 2017 when their first son Alfred William Root was born. A year later, the couple tied the knot.

Joe Root took to Instagram to confirm that he and his wife have welcomed their second child. He posted an adorable picture with his new-born resting on his left arm while his right arm was wrapped around his other son Alfred William. The England batting star also extended his support to the England team ahead of the first Test against West Indies, writing:

“Good luck boys @englandcricket We will be watching and supporting you all the way!”

Meanwhile, Joe Root is currently undergoing a seven day quarantine period following which he will join his teammates in the bio-secure bubble. Due to the pandemic, the players and officials are living at the on-site hotels and are also screened daily for symptoms and tested for COVID-19.

In Joe Root’a absence, Ben Stokes will lead England in the first Test. The three-match Test series marks the return of international cricket. Cricket action around the world had come to a standstill in March in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, rain has delayed the start of the first Test in Southampton. The next two Tests will be played in Manchester. With the second Test starting on July 16, Joe Root is expected to be back for England by then.
