Pace sensation Jofra Archer has been further sidelined from the upcoming Sri Lanka tour and this year’s IPL. A scan revealed a stress fracture in the elbow and hence he will be out of action. Earlier, the England cricketer flew back home after being withdrawn from the ODIs against South Africa due to an injury.
Jofra Archer faces a race against time
Archer missed the second and third Test and was later ruled out of the fourth game. Joe Root’s side though clinched the series 3-1. The lower-grade injury didn’t crush the bowler’s spirit as he vowed to make a strong comeback.

“As a result of the injury, he has been ruled out of England’s Test tour of Sri Lanka and the Indian Premier League 2020 season,” the ECB added in a statement. “He will now commence an injury rehabilitation programme with the ECB medical team with a view to be ready for the international summer campaign starting in June against West Indies in a three-match Test series.”

The Royals on Jofra Archer’s availability
Interestingly, Archer’s IPL side Rajasthan Royals are still hopeful of seeing their athlete for the upcoming edition of the IPL. The management is in touch with the ECB and have pinned their hopes on a speedy recovery.
“We’re working with the ECB to help @JofraArcher secure a speedy recovery, and still hope to see him in a Royals jersey this season,” the club’s statement read.
The Royals had roped in Archer for INR 7.6 Crores in the 2018 auction. He didn’t disappoint and turned out to be one of the most economical bowlers in the death overs. The seamer has bagged 14 wickets and at an economy of 8.73 which is quite impressive for someone to bowls at the slog. Archer had left the IPL mid-way last year in order to prepare for the World Cup.
