No bowler is garnering as much as attention as Jofra Archer at the moment. The Barbados-born England star is all over the news ever since the ECB changed the rule that made him available to play for the national team. And Archer has made such an impression with his undeniable talent that England have also named him in their World Cup squad.

England had not named Archer in the preliminary squad although he was eligible for selection. Instead, the World Cup hosts named Archer in the ODI squad for the games against Ireland and Pakistan. With Archer making transition to international cricket seamlessly and also impressing, England finally decided to include him in their squad in order to brighten up their chances of winning the competition.

Archer started garnering the limelight through his performances in the likes of Big Bash League and Indian Premier League. Unsurprisingly, all eyes will be on him when England kickstart their campaign on May 30 against South Africa.

Archer, meanwhile, recently said that he would love to be Ishant Sharma if given a chance to become an Indian bowler. Ishant and Archer had played for Sussex last year and the former seemed to have made a mark on the England star.

“Ishant spent last summer with us at Sussex and he pretty much reminds me of myself. He swings the ball in and doesn’t swing it away too much, so I think both of us are the same as he is also tall. So, if I wanted to be an Indian bowler it probably would be Ishant,” Archer told IANS.

Meanwhile, Archer has also said he would like to dismiss Virat Kohli, arguably the best batsman in the world right now. Archer has already played against Kohli this year in the IPL but could not get the wicket of the India superstar. The right-arm pacer also expressed his desire of picking up the wicket of West Indies star Chris Gayle.

“I would quite like to get Virat out,” Archer told Sky Sports. “I wasn’t able to get him in the IPL. And probably Chris Gayle again but I want to have an impact in whatever games I do play in and take as many wickets as possible.”
