England’s fast bowler Liam Plunkett has put his weight behind his rookie teammate Jofra Archer. Plunkett believes the inclusion of Archer will make the team a better unit. The lanky fast bowler hasn’t been included in England’s preliminary squad for the World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, Archer has been given his opportunity to present his case in the ongoing ODI series against Pakistan.

Archer also played in the one-off T20I against Pakistan. Subsequently, Archer bowled a fiery spell in the first One Day International as he got the ball to move away from the left-hander, Imam-ul-Haq. The tall fast bowler scalped one wicket of Fakhar Zaman and gave away only six runs in the four overs.

Jofra Archer has impressed with his brisk pace.
“He’s obviously a class act,” Plunkett, one of England’s established quicks, told reporters afterwards. “He showed today, he’s rocked up and bowled really nicely with pace and smashed the right good areas, picked up a wicket in the first few overs, beating the left-hander (Imam) on the outside edge.”
Thus, Jofra Archer is going to add strength to the England team as he has bowled with sheer pace. Archer has ticked the right boxes and he is could be lethal in the World Cup for the English team. England is already one of the big favourites for the ODI showpiece and Archer is going to add strength in the bowling department.
Plunkett said, “With him in your squad, you’re going to be a better team. Whoever performs best should be in the squad. If it wasn’t Jofra, someone else would be knocking on the door… If they come in and bowl well, they deserve to be there.”
On the other hand, Liam Plunkett believes he is not up to the mark in the recent past. However, the pacer is still picking up wickets which is the key and he is happy with that aspect.

“I still don’t feel at my best,” said Plunkett. “I feel I can be better, but if I’m still picking wickets up I’m happy with that.”
Meanwhile, the first ODI between England and Pakistan was abandoned due to rain at Kennington Oval. The second ODI between the two sides will take place at Rosel Bowl, Southampton on 11th May.
