However, the Indian Cricket Board has got the valid reason behind the exclusion of Jonty Rhodes for one of the crucial roles in the Indian National Cricket Team. Meanwhile, Jonty Rhodes expressed his opinion on being missed out.
On Thursday, India’s senior selection committee headed by MSK Prasad announced 3 shortlisted candidates for each of the support staff positions of the India cricket team after a 4-day-long selection process on Thursday. Defending the decision, MSK Prasad said that the panel was convinced with the skill sets of Sridhar. Besides that, he announced that R Sridhar has developed the Indian team a lot in the recent past. They have worked with a plan – Jonty Rhodes
Speaking of the same, Jonty Rhodes, who is speaking for the first time, quoted that he knew that he is not going to be selected even before the selection announcement. Jonty Rhodes added that R Sridhar was too good in his interview, which certainly didn’t give him a chance to stand during the selection.
“I am sure my interview was not as good as the one with the incumbent coach because he has been there for the last couple of years. Players have definitely worked with a plan. And you can see the progress as it just doesn’t happen. I am expecting that from an interview point of view – he kicked my butt,” Jonty said in an event in Chennai.

“As a fielding coach, I did a couple of years of coaching with the South African team till the 2007 World Cup. Since then, I have only worked in India. I am way more familiar with the cricketing set up in India than I am in South Africa,” Jonty added the reason behind his interest in coaching India.
