England batting star Jos Buttler has revealed the name of the cricketer he idolises. The right-handed batsman is currently one of the most destructive batsmen in the game. He is already being considered as one of the greatest ODI players to have played for England.
He has been one of the flag bearers of the current England side which has dominated ODIs in the last few years. Last year, he played an integral role in England’s World Cup triumph at home. He played a number of crucial knocks during the competition.
In the league stage against Pakistan, he scored 103 from 76 balls (the then-fastest century by an English batsman in a World Cup). He scored 64 against Bangladesh before scoring 59 in the final against New Zealand. He also scored seven runs in the crucial super over and ran out Martin Guptill to give England their first-ever World Cup.
Coming to his idol, the England wicketkeeper-batsman recently revealed that former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers has been his ‘idol’ during his growing up years. Jos Buttler revealed the name of his idol during The Royals Podcast Episode 3.
“De Villiers has been my idol growing up. The guy I love watching, he is just awesome,” said Jos Buttler.
Well, AB de Villiers is also considered as one of the most destructive batsmen of all time. Meanwhile, both Jos Buttler and de Villiers would have been playing in the IPL right now in normal circumstances. However, the tournament is suspended in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. IPL 2020 was scheduled to get underway on March 29. The way things are unfolding at the moment, the chances of IPL starting soon is absolutely bleak.
