Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood would potentially feature in his first IPL game in the upcoming IPL season, beginning on the September of 19th. The 13th season of the IPL would take place in the UAE and not India due to the high risk of COVID-19 pandemic lingering across the country. Josh Hazlewood, who received a bid from three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), hopes to have a good match with the captain, MS Dhoni.
Josh Hazlewood has been part of the Mumbai Indian squad previously but remained out of action mostly due to injuries. While the 28-year old is Test specialist, he has found quite a lot of success in limited-overs too. However, having played his last T20 international in 2016, Hazlewood would look forward to upgrading his skills under the three-time IPL winning captain.

Josh Hazlewood is one of those few bowlers, who relies on accuracy and precision to take wickets instead of pace. While he has increased his speed in recent times, Hazlewood’s primary weapon remains his nagging line and lengths to break through the defences of batsmen. In T20 cricket so far, Josh Hazlewood has 42 wickets in 35 games at 24.11, having an economy rate of 7.11.
I think he is a pretty similar player to me: Josh Hazlewood

Looking forward to playing alongside MS Dhoni, Josh Hazlewood expressed his excitement and conceded that the former Indian captain’s traits are similar to his. Hazlewood claimed that like MS Dhoni, he also plays his best cricket and enjoys it when calm and composed. The 13th season of the IPL commences on the 19th of September and ends on the 9th of November.
“Again, I am excited! I think he is a pretty similar player to me – very relaxed and calm – and that’s how I play my best cricket, that’s when I enjoy my cricket. Hopefully, we are a good match,” Hazlewood told Wion in an interaction.
