Veteran South Africa all-rounder, JP Duminy will undergo a surgery on his right shoulder which will rule him out of the upcoming limited-overs tour to Australia and the Mzansi Super League (MSL). Meanwhile, Duminy sustained the injury during the series against Zimbabwe. The Proteas team manager and doctor Mohammed Moosajee revealed the information.

“Duminy aggravated a pre-existing shoulder injury during the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe.”  Proteas team manager and doctor Mohammed Moosajee said.

Furthermore, JP Duminy will also not be able to play for the Cape Town Blitz. However, it is the newly established Mzansi Super League T20 tournament, which starts on November 16. Quinton de Kock will replace Duminy as the marquee player for the Cape Town Blitz.

“The injury will require surgical management, thus ruling him out of the immediate tour of Australia and the upcoming MSL. At the moment, we can’t say how long he will be out for, that is dependent on the results from the surgery,” he added.

Moreover, South Africa will also be without their senior batsman, Hashim Amla.

The veteran will miss South Africa’s tour of Australia for a short limited-overs series. Amla failed to recover from a finger injury that he had sustained during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He also missed the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe due to the injury.

Meanwhile, JP Duminy could only manage to score 22 runs in his last three ODI games against Zimbabwe. The Proteas will play three one-day internationals and a single T20 international against Australia starting on November 4, 2018 (Sunday).

South Africa will be high on confidence, as they recently won both the ODI and T20I series at their home. They whitewashed Zimbabwe by 3-0 in the ODI series and 2-0 in the T20Is. However, the last T20 match got abandoned without a bowl being bowled.
