Australia head coach Justin Langer and their skipper Aaron Finch were involved in a furious exchange with ICC Match Referee David Boon during the just-concluded T20I against India at the Manuka Oval, Canberra.
Justin Langer and Finch went to Boon and talked to him before the start of the chase over India’s use of the concussion substitute. India replaced Ravindra Jadeja with spinner Yuzvendra Chahal after the allrounder was struck on the helmet on the second ball of the final over of the first innings from Mitchell Starc.
Surprisingly, Team India didn’t follow the protocol as Jadeja did not undergo a concussion test when he was hit and continued batting, hitting nine runs off the final three balls. But at the same time, it should be noted that ICC regulations also permit the concussion test to be conducted at the end of the over, which in this case coincided with the innings break.

Team India eventually decided to replace Jadeja with Chahal and Justin Langer was not at all impressed with it. He and Finch were seen having a heated discussion with Boon. Justin Langer left the conversation visibly annoyed while Finch was seen smiling in disbelief.

And Chahal went on to add more salt to Justin Langer’s wounds by starring with the ball. He picked up 3 for 25 and was adjudged Man of the Match as India beat Australia by 11 runs to take the lead in the three-match series.
