Kagiso Rabada To Miss The ODI Series Against Australia And India Due To Groin Injury

After a humiliating series defeat in three-match T20 series against Australia at home, the Proteas will take the field at the Boland Park on Saturday, seeking redemption in the first of the three ODIs. And the last thing South Africa need is an injury to any of their key players with the ODIs in India looming as well. But that precisely what has taken place. Their pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada will miss the series against Australia and India due to a groin injury.

The South African selectors rested the 24-year old from the limited-overs leg against England. But he returned for the three T20s against Australia and the opposition took him to the cleaners. He merely took two scalps in three games at an average of 57 along with an economy rate of 10.36. Cricket South Africa announced him getting ruled out through Twitter and are yet to name his replacement.
CSA confirms that Kagiso Rabada would take three to four weeks to heal:
As per reports, Rabada suffered the injury during the third T20I at the Newlands which the hosts lost by 97 runs to lose the series as well. As per Cricket South Africa, it would take him three to four weeks to recover from the same. Their medical officer Dr. Shuaib Manjra confirmed it by saying that “Kagiso sustained a groin muscle strain in the T20 series vs Australia, he was assessed by the medical staff, assisted by an MRI scan. The significant injury means that he will take approximately 4 weeks to heal.”

Meanwhile, the Proteas received a boost in the form of their batsman Temba Bavuma, who has been cleared to participate in the ODI series against Australia. Bavuma missed all three T20Is against them. The three-game ODI series against the men in blue commences from the 12th of March in Dharamshala.
