Off Field Activity Not New In Pakistan Team: Kamran Akmal Says Umar Akmal Was Not Treated Well

Umar Akmal’s career fell in jeopardy after PCB handing him a ban from all representative cricket for three years after he failed to report details of corrupt approaches made to him ahead of this year’s PSL. His elder brother and veteran Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal believes Umar Akmal was not treated well.
Pakistan cricket team have been through a lot of controversies. In the past, Shoaib Akhtar had tampered the ball, their have been numerous cases of match-fixing. But Kamran Akmal believes Umar Akmal was mistreated by his cricket board.

Akmal had accepted the incidents which formed the basis of the two charges against him by the PCB had taken place, but pointed out that the circumstances were such that they did not merit reporting to the board, espncricinfo reported.
Kamran believes there have situations in the past like how Inzamam-ul-Haq handled Shoaib Akhtar, similarly his brother could have been treated in a better manner. He also added that off the field activities are not new in Pakistan cricket.
“Off the field activities is nothing new in Pakistan cricket. Team management and the captain should know how to deal with such players. Look at the way Inzi Bhai [Inzamam] handled Shoaib [Akhtar], Asif and Shahid [Afridi]. If the same was done with Umar Akmal, things would have turned out differently,” Kamran Akmal told Cricket Pakistan.
Umar Akmal averages around 35 in Tests and ODIs.
