Virat Kohli likes to display his passion for the game through aggression but often lands himself in hot soup. Though Kohli, a like the cricket fraternity, regards his rival captain Williamson as a ‘nice guy’, he gave him an animated send-off on Day 2 of the second Test in Christchurch.

Kane Williamson laughed it off when he was asked about the send-off he received from the India captain. The New Zealand captain, at his modest best, also said that people do not need to read too much into it.

“It is Virat and he is passionate on the field. I don’t think we need to read too much into it,” Williamson said.

Kohli was pumped up after his premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah removed Williamson for three runs. His animated send-off was studded with intensity and expletives as the India captain failed to keep nerves after the key wicket. In the videos of the incident, doing rounds on social media, Kohli can be seen putting finger on his slips as a gesture to silence the crowd.

The India captain was however criticised by fans and cricket fraternity alike for giving the ‘nice guy’ of the game an animated send-off.

On the contrary, Kohli was seen having a chat with Williamson on the sidelines in the fifth Twenty20 International (T20I).

And though Kohli failed to make his bat do the talking in the Test series against New Zealand, his gesture to send-off Williamson hogged all the limelight and became a much discussed topic on the cricketing circuit.

The 31-year-old also snapped back at a journalist during the post-match interview when asked about the incident.

Though Kohli tried to sway away from the question, the journalist asked him, to “set better examples”.
