New Zealand captain and one of the finest modern day batsman Kane Williamson is a boon for SRH. He not only adds to the batting strength to the side but also helps the team with his cricketing mind. Williamson played a crucial knock, under pressure, to help SRH clinch victory over RCB in the eliminator.
Chasing a partly total of 132 runs, SRH lost David Warner and Shreevats Goswami early. Manish Pandey added 24 runs to his team’s tally but failed to convert his start. Williamson, however, maintained his calm and scored an unbeaten half-century off 44 deliveries to ensure SRH a much-needed victory.
Calm customer like you Kane Williamson makes a job easier: Jason Holder
SRH all-rounder Jason Holder said that his role is very important but then a calm and cool customer like Kane Williamson makes job easier. Holder also mentioned that during the run chase, in a crunch situation, it was Williamson who took the pressure off him otherwise situation could have been tricky.
“All-rounder role is very important but we have a cool, calm customer like you (Williamson) who makes a job easier. Probably didn’t get the flow as the wicket was a little bit tricky but good to finish the game for the team and you took most of the pressure off me.
“Nine off six could be tricky and challenging for teams but to squeeze a boundary of covers and one behind point was ideal and at the end, a win is a win.
“The key wickets in Powerplay were crucial, there was enough seam movement and a pace upfront so I tried to use that as my advantage. We really complimented well and we have been able to restrict team to manageable totals and hopefully, we can continue this in the last couple of games of the IPL,” Holder told Williamson in a video posted on IPL’s official site.
SRH will take on Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2020.
