BBL 2017/18: Kevin Pietersen Set to Retire from Cricket
Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen stated his cricketing career is approaching a dead end and it could well come to demise with the upcoming Big Bash League.
However, Pietersen did not look depressed and is looking forward to make the most out of his last few days as a cricketer.
The power hitter mentioned he is still full of energy, but he has a gut feeling he is very close to the stop. Pietersen went on to state his career as a cricketer would not get judged going by his performances in the Big Bash League.
According to the batsman, he was up to the mark in his role of nurturing the youngsters, and act as a positive energy for the team.
“I am definitely coming to the end of my playing time. So I am definitely going to enjoy the last few digs. It’s fairly close. It’s the practice that you look at, and you just think, ‘do I want to do it? I’ve still got the energy at the moment but it’s dwindling”, Pietersen told cricket.com.au.

“I’m coming to the end of my career. My career is not going to be defined on how I play in the Big Bash. My career has already been defined by all my ups and downs though a long career. It’s my job to come here and help others, help the youngsters, be a good influence, be a positive influence on the team. That’s what I’ve done for three or four years”, he said.
Pietersen pulled out of the 2017 IPL auctions at the last moment but went on to play for Surrey in July. He will be a part of the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League which will stretch from 19th December 2017 to 4th February 2018.
