Star Indian batsman, KL Rahul is the ‘Cricketer of the Year’ in the sixth edition of Wisden India Almanack.

Rahul has done impeccably well in the Tests last year scoring runs consistently.

Since his debut, Rahul has grown in confidence over the years coring runs in tough situations. Notably, he has made a name for himself in the Test arena. He has played 23 Test matches so far scoring 1458 runs at a healthy average of 40.50.

The Almanack also pays tribute to India’s women cricketers, with a wonderful cover picture of celebration at the World Cup.

Mithali Raj’s team changed the language of discourse in Indian cricket. They played a different brand of cricket in the World Cup and impressed everybody. Although they missed on the final to England by nine runs, they made India proud with the cricket they played.

Not surprisingly, therefore, Deepti Sharma, a star at the World Cup is one of the ‘Cricketers of the Year’. Shantha Rangaswamy, India’s first woman superstar, has been inducted into the Wisden India Hall of Fame alongside Erapalli Prasanna.

Priyank Panchal, Hasan Ali, and Tamim Iqbal are the other Cricketers of the Year.

Hasan Ali marched to become the No 1 bowler in ICC’s ranking list. He led Pakistan’s bowling attack to Champions Trophy title.

With over 900 pages of essays, commentary, statistics, portraits, and images, Wisden India Almanack is a joyful ride through the season that was, and a peep into the seasons that will be to help better understand the season that is.
