KL Rahul Breaks Gautam Gambhir's, Suresh Raina's Record, Becomes Quickest Indian Batsman To Score 3000 T20 Runs

Kings XI Punjab batsman KL Rahul created a record during the team’s tie against Royal Challengers Bangalore last evening as he became the quickest Indian batsman to score 3000 runs in T20 cricket.

The record was previously held by Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina, both of whom had batted for 107 innings to complete 3000 runs.

KL Rahul achieved the record in just 93 innings to become fastest Indian batsman to do so.

In total, he has played 105 T20s in which he has scored 3029 runs at 39.85 with a strike-rate of 137.86.

He has also scored three T20 hundreds, two of which have come at international level.

KL Rahul 1st T20 hundred came against West Indies in 2016 in the first T20I of the series that was played in the USA.

He followed with another T20 ton on the tour of England last year.

KL Rahul’s third T20 ton came in the ongoing IPL against Mumbai Indians, where he also scored his 1st IPL century.

KL Rahul is one of the three Indian batsmen to score a hundred in all formats of the game at international level.

Other than him, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina are two batsmen who have scored a century in all formats at international level.

KL Rahul is currently playing for KXIP in ongoing IPL 2019.

In 11 innings that he has played so far, the right-handed batsman has scored 441 runs at an average of 55.12 with a strike-rate of 130.09.

After IPL, he will be flying to England as he is a part of the World Cup 2019 squad.

KL Rahul has been in and out of the ODI squad since making his debut in this format but he retained his place in the team for the tournament.

His show in IPL 2018 earned him a comeback to ODI squad and he has been part of the team since then.

In his previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he played an innings of 42 to give Kings XI Punjab a good start in the chase to the target of 203.

Though the middle-order failed to carry the team past the target and KXIP lost the match by a margin of 17 runs.

Nicholas Pooran did raise hopes of KXIP by scoring 46 off 28 in the last phase of the game but couldn’t finish off the task.
