The stunning knock played by KL Rahul at Rajkot against Australia was termed as the special performance by the Team India skipper, Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation. Not only Kohli but also the Karnataka batsman received a lot of accolades from experts and the fans, for his match-winning innings. The brilliant show earned him the Man of the Match Award, which he used for a special purpose.
Batting at No.5, Rahul scored 80 runs off 52 balls. The knock helped India to post a massive score of 340 runs on the board to stage a comeback for India in the three-match ODI series. In the same game, he was also asked to keep the wickets in absence of regular wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Rahul impressed his skipper Kohli, who asked Rahul to continue as the wicketkeeper-batsman for the team for a while.
KL Rahul has been following our work –
Rahul is winning hearts not only with his performances on the field but also with his gestures off the field. The star batsman donated INR 2 lakhs to the animal rights activist, Shravan Krishnan for animal welfare. Rahul had told Krishnan that he would donate the money as soon as he receives his next award. On January 17, in the second ODI against Australia, Rahul bagged the award and received a prize of INR 1 lakh.

“This is not the first time he has helped us. He has been following our work at the BMAD for a while now and has always been keen on helping us out. Based on our posts on social media, he has messaged us and asked us many times in the past if we need any financial assistance,” Shravan said.
Rahul and I have always been in touch:
The dispensary acts as an outreach programme for animal welfare at the Theosophical Society and Shravan is the centre’s coordinator.
The former cricketer who represented Tamil Nadu had met Rahul multiple times on and off the field. The two men had even attended South Zone camps together in the past.

Rahul’s kind gesture came to light after Shravan posted a message on Facebook thanking his friend. The BMAD shelter houses over 150 animals which range from dogs, pigs, cats, horses, donkeys and camels.
