While one generally gifts something special to someone celebrating his or her birthday, it was the other way around for Chris Gayle. The West Indies star turned 39 on Friday and his Kings XI Punjab teammate KL Rahul asked him for a favour.

Wishing Gayle on his birthday and asking for apologies for wishing him late, Rahul hilariously asked the Jamaican not to take his hats. And in order to back his claims, Rahul hilariously posted a photo of himself with Gayle showing the latter with an undersized cap on his head.

Rahul took to Twitter to post his message, writing:

” Stop taking my hat from me Boss! ? Sorry for the late wishes but wishing u an Awesome year ahead. To more destruction!!? Happy Birthday Universe Boss! ? @henrygayl”

The duo plied their trade for Kings XI Punjab in this year’s Indian Premier League after playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past. The two started the tournament on a bang, forming a formidable partnership. While Gayle scored 368 runs in 11 games with the help of one century and3 fifties, Rahul scored 659 runs in 14 games with the help of 6 fifties including a record 14-ball fifty in the very first game of the competition.

Rahul, meanwhile, recently returned from a mixed tour of England. He started the tour on a bang by scoring a match-winning century in the first T20I. However, he lost his form thereafter and struggled to get runs. But he went to finish the tour on a good note by scoring a century in the final Test although it came in a losing cause.
