Indian opener KL Rahul and captain Virat Kohli moved up the ladder in the latest update of the ICC T20I rankings after the series against the West Indies. Kohli who top-scored in the series with 183 runs has moved up by five positions to take the 10th place in the rankings. The Indian captain was at his best in the series as he scored his runs at an average of 183 and a strike rate of 190.62. Kohli now has 685 rating points and enters the top 10 T20I batsmen list.

The talisman scored two fifties in the series. Kohli scored 94 runs in the first T20I which is now his best T20I score and scored a quickfire 29-ball 70 in the decider. On the other hand, KL Rahul got the opportunity to open the innings in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out due to knee injury.

Rahul attains career-best ranking.

Rahul grabbed his chance with both hands as he scored 164 runs in three innings at an average of 54.67. Consequently, the flamboyant batsman jumped up by three places to perch at the sixth spot in the rankings table. Rahul now has career-best 734 rating points under his pocket.

The right-hander played a match-winning knock of 91 runs off just 56 balls in the decider to help India post an above par score of 240 runs. Thus, he was awarded the Man of the match.

Rahul’s opening partner Rohit Sharma slipped by one position to the ninth place with 686 rating points. Rohit played a blistering knock of 71 runs off just 34 balls to help India get off to a flying start in the all-important decider.

On the other hand, West Indies’ opening batsman Evin Lewis remained at the seventh place in the rankings. Lewis provided a good start to his team in the first two matches but could not bat in the final game after suffering a knee injury.
