Knee Injury Rules Lungi Ngidi Out for Three Months

South Africa’s paceman Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of action for around three months due to a knee injury he picked up in Australia. As a result, Lungi is going to miss the forthcoming home series against Pakistan. Meanwhile, it came as a big blow, as the fast bowler was among the wickets across formats of late.
Knee Injury to keep Ngidi out for 12 weeks – Moosajee
Moreover, the injury which was sustained in the one-off T20I against Australia last Saturday. He had left the field after suffering the blow on the knee and later came back to bowl the last over in the match. However, with the upcoming Pakistan tour, which includes three Test matches, three T20Is, and five ODIs starting on the boxing day, Ngidi’s absence could dent Proteas’ hopes.
Furthermore, South Africa’s manager, Mohammad Moosajee says he is expected to get sidelined for 12 months. Moosajee further mentioned once the rest period gets over, the fast bowler would be back on the ground for training.

“Lungi fell awkwardly while fielding during the T20I against Australia last Sunday. He underwent investigations and further assessments with knee specialists upon his return to South Africa, which revealed a significant ligament injury to the right knee. Due to the significant nature of the injury, he will require a minimum of 12 weeks of rest and rehabilitation to make a successful return to play,” South Africa team manager Dr. Mohammad Moosajee said.
Proteas to miss Lungi Ngidi
Furthermore, the right-arm pacer had taken three wickets in the three-match ODI series against Australia. Meanwhile, he has been performing as one of the backbones in the bowling department since he made his debut. His collaboration with Steyn and Rabada and been really fruitful for South Africa.
However, the three-match Tests against South Africa would begin on December 26th at the Supersport Park in Centurion.
