Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar have been added to India’s T20I squad. Both of these players have replaced Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah. Sundar had suffered an ankle injury in the training session while Jasprit Bumrah fractured his finger in the first T20I against Ireland.
In fact, Washington Sundar is also ruled out of the ODI series that will follow the T20I series. India’s all-rounder Axar Patel is called-up as the replacement for the teenage sensation.
Chahar and Pandya get their maiden call-up.
Meanwhile, this is the maiden call-up for both Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar in the senior Indian team. The duo had also impressed in the recently concluded Indian Premier League for their respective franchises.
Furthermore, both players are currently part of the India A squad that has made its place in the final of the tri-series. Chahar has also impressed with his skills in England as he taken 13 wickets in five List A games. Moreover, he is India’s best bowler thus far in the tri-series after having taken seven wickets in the three matches. He has conceded his runs at an economy of just over four.
On the other hand, Krunal Pandya has scored only three runs and scalped two wickets in the three matches. However, the southpaw all-rounder is awarded for his consistent performances in the last two seasons of the IPL.
The T20I series will commence from 3rd July whereas the ODI series will be played from July 12.
