India’s former World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev believes the Indian government should be sole judge on the future of India-Pakistan World Cup match. India and Pakistan are set to lock horns with each other on June 16 at Manchester in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, after the Pulwama attacks on 14th February, the big match between India and Pakistan has come under the dark clouds.

The Board of Control of Cricket in India is mulling to boycott Pakistan from the World Cup event. However, they would go on to lose two points if they forfeit playing against their arch-nemesis in the quadrennial event.

The decision can not be taken by us – Kapil Dev.

Kapil Dev believes it is better not to make any comments on whether we should play the game against Pakistan. At the end of the day, the Indian government’s decision is going to be the decision which will matter the most.

“To play or not to play is something which does not have to be decided by people like us. It has to be decided by the government. It’s better if we don’t give an opinion and leave it to the government and concerned people. Whatever they decide will be in the interest of the nation. We’ll do what they want,” he said at an event here on Friday.

On the other hand, the Indian board has urged ICC to sever ties with a country which emanates terrorism. CoA also wrote on behalf of BCCI to take stern action against Pakistan.

“Most countries from which the members of the ICC hail (including the UK) have strongly condemned this terrorist attack and expressed solidarity with India,” the letter read.

Meanwhile, 42 CRPF were martyred when a suicide bomber crashed into the convoy. This brutal went on to trigger a strong public reaction in the country as the uncompromising soldiers lost their lives.

On the other hand, BCCI and ICC have organized a meeting on 27th February in Dubai. We will get a clear picture after the rendezvous. However, the Indian government is yet to make the final decision.
