Here is a list of Indian Sports Personalities who got Married in 2017

The year 2017 witnessed some high profile marriages as many sports stars started their new life along with their partners. From cricketers to footballers and wrestlers, many renowned sports personalities tied a knot to start a new chapter in their life. What may be interesting is that skippers of both football and cricket team, Sunil Chettri and Virat Kohli married their love of the life in the same year. While there was much hype about Kohli’s marriage, Sunil didn’t get the kind of attention he deserves.

Other cricketers such as former Indian international Zaheer Khan and currently the leading bowler in the limited overs format also got hitched on the same date. Wrestler Sakshi Malik also got married to her longtime love.

Here are the top five memorable wedding of 2017:

Virat Kohli: The wedding of the Indian cricket team skipper was undoubtedly the biggest wedding for this year as a lot of hype was created around this wedding after Virat Kohli opted out of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. Virat got married to his actress girlfriend Anushka Sharma in a private wedding at Tuscany in Italy attended by a handful of family and friends on 11 December. The couple looked gorgeous in the pictures that surfaced on the internet as was seen enjoying each other’s company.

Sunil Chhetri: The swift centre-forward and the skipper of the Indian football team tied knots with his longtime girlfriend Sonam Bhattacharya on December 4 at Kolkata. Sonam is the daughter former India international footballer Subrata Bhattacharya. Chhetri turned out in a traditional Nepali attire before changing into printed sherwani according to Bengali tradition as he tied the knot; however, it didn’t gather that much attention as it deserved.

Zaheer Khan: The former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan married his girlfriend Sagarika Ghatge, who featured in Chak De India, the famous movie on the life of an Indian hockey player. The couple chose for a court marriage on November 23 and was followed by a grand reception for Bollywood biggies and Zaheer’s teammates on 27th November in Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace and Tower.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: Currently, the leading fast bowler in the limited overs game Bhuvneshwar Kumar also got hitched in 2017. The right-arm swing bowler tied the knot with his fiancee Nupur Nagar in Meerut, his hometown on 23 November 2017. The wedding was followed by a reception in Bulandshahr, Nupur’s hometown, on November 26. They also hosted a reception in New Delhi on November 30 which was attended by the team India cricketers and delegates.

Sakshi Malik: Wrestler Sakshi Malik grabbed everybody’s eyeballs by becoming the first female wrestler to win an Olympic bronze medal. She got married to Satyawart Kadian in Rohtak in April, who is also a wrestler and has won the bronze medal at the 2010 Youth Olympics. Sakshi Malik was looking gorgeous in a red embroidered lehenga and was well complimented by Satyawart in an olive green sherwani.
