Wanindu Hasaranga of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) got the last laugh after he clean bowled Deepak Hooda of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who had hit him for two sixes as their teams clashed in the Eden Gardens in the Eliminator match of the IPL 2022 in Kolkata on May 25, 2022.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul started off on a good foot, winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.
Lucknow Super Giants struggled in their chase of a daunting 208-run target in Kolkata as RCB bowlers put pressure on them from the start. Mohammed Siraj got rid of Quinton de Kock for 6 and then Manan Vohra fell for 19 runs, leaving KL Rahul to do the anchoring job when he should’ve been hitting the balls for maximums as the required run rate climbed.
This was mainly due to Rajat Patidar’s brilliant 112* in 54 balls with 7 sixes and 12 fours and with other contributions from Virat Kohli (25) and Dinesh Karthik (37* in 23 balls) took the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 207/4 in 20 overs. This was Patidar’s maiden T20 and IPL century and he was helped by RCB, who dropped him twice.
Deepak Hooda Hits Wanindu Hasaranga For Two Sixes; Hasaranga Gets His Revenge As He Clean Bowls Hooda
KL Rahul was looking good at one end, while Hooda tried his best to bring LSG up to date on the run rate. He hit 4 sixes and 1 four in his 26-ball 45-run knock, which came to an end in the 15th over which was quite an eventful one.
Bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga, Hooda hit him for two sixes in the first three balls. First was off the first ball of the over, which was deposited in the crowd with a slog sweep, and then he danced down the track to hit Hasaranga over the long-on boundary.
But on the 4th ball of the over, Hasaranga bowled a wrong one and Hooda tried to smack him over the cow corner but missed the ball and it clattered into his stumps.
