Mahmudullah Hails IPL As The Best Franchise Tournament In The World

Mahmudullah has been one of the bedrocks of the Bangladesh white-ball teams for over a decade now. The right-handed batsman, who made his debut for the national side back in 2007, is a veteran of 49 Tests, 188 One-day and 87 Twenty20 International, in which he has racked up 2764, 4070 and 1474 runs respectively which also includes 7 hundreds besides claiming a total of 150 wickets.
With cricket currently on the back burner thanks to the global pandemic that is the coronavirus [COVID-19], cricketers are using this time to interact with their fellow mates via Instagram live. Veteran Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal recently caught up with Mahmudullah on the same.
Iqbal heaped high praise on Mahmuduallah’s all-round skills and also lamented on the fact that his talent has gone unnoticed, as far as Indian Premier League is concerned. Mahmudullah has never played in the IPL. The all-rounder had put his name at a base price of Rs 75 Lakhs in the recently held auctions but like his teammate Mushfiqur Rahim, he had also gone unsold.
The all-rounder went in hail IPL as the best franchise tournament in the world, adding that everyone wants to play in it.
“Obviously, because IPL is a big stage and everybody looks after it and everybody wants to play there. Because the tournament is so fantastic and I think probably the best franchise tournament in the world,” Mahmudullah responded to Tamim Iqbal’s question.

Mahmudullah not disappointed by the IPL Auction snub
Speaking on his snub in the 2020 auctions, Mahnudullah admitted that it would have been great had he got a chance to display his talent. He, however, feels that there is nothing to be disappointed and is focussed on playing the game the way he wants to.
“If I had a chance to play there it would have been obviously great for me. Because we all want to play and perform at the highest level. InshaAllah if I get an opportunity to play there then it would feel great to me. There’s nothing to be disappointed all we have to do play the way we want,” Mahmudullah added.
Meanwhile, the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League [IPL] was supposed to kickstart from the 29th of March but with the situation around COVID-19 escalating at the rate of knots, the tournament has now been postponed for an indefinite period of time.
