Make no mistake, India gets the better of the opposition teams in home conditions. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah is not a happy man after his team surrendered at the hands of the hosts in the decider as they lost the match by 30 runs at Nagpur on Sunday.

As usual, India inflicted yet another soul-crushing defeat on Bangladesh. The visitors might have had their moments in Delhi T20I opener but it was India who managed to come out on top by winning back-to-back matches to seal the T20I series in a grand fashion.

Even as the rising star Mohammad Naim showed some defiance by chipping in with a superb knock of 81 runs, India somehow managed to find a way to breach the visitors’ wall and Rohit Sharma must be really pleased with how things panned out. On the contrary, Mahmudullah revealed what cost his side the decider. Speaking to the reporters after the match, Mahmudullah said that losing wickets quickly led to their downfall.

Everything was going just fine for Bangladesh until Naim and Mithun were batting. They shared a constructive 98-run stand and Deepak Chahar came into the scene and broke the big partnership. Since then, it was all India’s show as Bangladesh kept losing wickets rapidly except for Naim who stayed sublime and went pulverization of his own as he tried to take his side deep into the game.

“We had a chance. When we needed 49 runs off 30 balls, we had a chance but in the end, we lost wickets rapidly and that is what cost us the match. I am just disappointed that Naim played such a good inning, but we failed to win the match. If we would have won, it would have given Naim a lot of credit,” Mahmudullah told reporters.

“We lost two wickets quickly, the partnership between Mithun and Naim was incredible, it was good to see and especially the young Naim batted superbly, but in the end, it came down to how we lost the wickets in a cluster,” Mahmudullah added while praising the young batting sensation Naim.

Even though India lost big wickets like Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan early on in the game, Shreyas Iyer (62 off 33) and KL Rahul (52 off 35) scored crunch half-centuries to India post a commendable target of 175. Deepak Chahar was at his imperious best with the ball as he bagged sensational six-wicket haul, including a stellar hat-trick, registering best ever bowling figures in T20I history (3.2-0-7-6) at an impressive economy rate of 2.10.

“If you see we did similar mistakes in our past matches, and the big teams are quite good in this department. Having said that, the wicket was good to chase down the target, our bowlers did a good job in restricting them to 174. In the end, I think it was our mistakes that cost us the match,” he added.
