Zimbabwe cricket and former South Africa fast bowler Makhaya Ntini have parted ways with the latter stepping down from the role of bowling coach. Ntini was appointed for two years in January 2016.
“It is with regret that Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announces that Makhaya Ntini, the National Team Bowling Coach, has tendered his resignation from ZC, with immediate effect,” Zimbabwe Cricket said in a press release.
The release further added Ntini had brought a lot of knowledge and practical experience to Zimbabwe Cricket and they are lucky enough to work with him.
“Makhaya has brought a wealth of experience and practical knowledge to ZC, and ZC and its players and coaching staff were fortunate to have had an opportunity to work closely with him during this period, and to learn from his many years of playing for Cricket South Africa at the highest level,” the release further stated.
Zimbabwe Cricket further wished Ntini a very successful career ahead.
The stint with Zimbabwe was Ntini’s first trade in coaching after his retirement in 2011. Ntini was appointed as the interim head coach when Whatmore got sacked in May 2016.
Ntini was relieved of the head coach job in October when Heath Streak took over, but he stayed on as a member of Streak’s support staff.
