As far as the local players are concerned, Royal Challengers left out Akshdeep Nath, who failed to show his calibre in the previous edition despite getting chances regularly. Apart from Akshdeep, RCB have released players like Prayas Roy Barman, Kulwant Khejroliya, Himmat Singh and Milind Kumar, who hardly got a chance to play in IPL 2019.

Royal Challengers Bangalore retained only 2 overseas players:

In the overseas slot, Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to leave out Marcus Stonis, who was traded into the side after leaving Mandeep Singh to Kings XI Punjab ahead of IPL 2019. The other surprising name in the list was Shimron Hetmyer, who proved his calibre in the final game of the season in IPL 2019.

But Hetmyer has been out of form for West Indies in recent times which must have compelled the management to leave him out of the squad. Alongside Hetmyer and  Marcus Stoinis, RCB also left out Nathan Coulter-Nile, the mid-season recruit Dale Steyn and veteran Kiwi Pacer Tim Southee. Surprisingly, they left out all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme as well.

Tim Southee had a poor stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019 while Dale Steyn delivered a couple of scintillating performances before injuring his shoulder yet again. On the other hand, Nathan Coulter-Nile was not available for selection while Colin de Grandhomme hasn’t delivered the goods of his standards.

The only two overseas players, who were retained by the franchise is former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers and England’s Moeen Ali. Both of them served well in IPL 2019 and also possess the ability to turn the tables on their days. As far as the Indian players are concerned, Royal Challengers Bangalore relied their trust on the skipper Virat Kohli, wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel and the fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini.

And also, they have retained Yuzvendra Chahal alongside Umesh Yadav and Pawan Negi. The other notable names to be retained are Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar alongside Gurkeerat Mann Singh and Devdutt Padikkal.
