Marlon Samuels Announces Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket

West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels announced retirement from all form of the game on Wednesday. Samuels was the top run scorer for the West Indies in their T20 final victories. According to a report in espncricinfo, Johnny Grave, the Cricket West Indies chief executive confirmed the development.
Grave mentioned that Samuels had informed about his retirement date in June. He made his last appearance for the national team back in 2018. Samuels maintained a decent average throughout his career but was an important member for the West Indies especially in the shortest format of the game.
A look at Marlon Samuels’ career
Samuels featured in 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is for the West Indies. He accumulated over 10000 international runs and average nearly 30 across formats. He had the high score of 260 in Tests, unbeaten 133 in ODIs and 89 not out in the shortest format of the game.
Samuels had made his debut for the West Indies in 2000 and retired after a successful career. Besides the batting, he also picked up 152 wickets with his spin bowling. He also represented several T20 franchises around the world later in his career, including Pune Warriors, Delhi Daredevils, Melbourne Renegades and Peshawar Zalmi.
Samuels was also a part of controversies during his cricketing career. He defied a team curfew in 2002, India and was almost sent back home for his behaviour. He was also banned in the year 2008 for receiving money from illegally and against the laws of the game for which he was deemed guilty.
He was recently engaged in an ugly exchange with Ben Stokes and Shane Warne on social media.
