There have been a lot of speculations over Mashrafe Mortaza’s captaincy and his role in Bangladesh’s limited-overs team. He led the side to an eighth-place finish in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. This has led to many fans and experts questioning his role in the team.
Anyway, Mashrafe has not been in good form in recent times and picked only one wicket in the World Cup last year.
However, Mashrafe is open to criticism over his performance in international cricket, he is unwilling to take questions on his self-respect.
Mashrafe Mortaza Lashes Out At His Critics:
“Self-respect and to be ashamed of? Do I steal on the ground? Am I a thief? I actually can not relate things like ‘self-respect’ or ‘being ashamed’ with playing cricket. There are people who steal and cheat; aren’t they ashamed of what they are doing? Only I have to feel ashamed if I do not get wickets in a game? Am I a thief?,” said Mashrafe
Mashrafe, who missed the Sri Lanka tour in July last year, returned to lead the Tigers in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting from tomorrow in Sylhet.
Although he is going through a bad run at the moment, Mashrafe has been a legend of the game for Bangladesh. What adds to his speciality is his ability to shine with the bat and the ball respectively.
Mashrafe Mortaza has done wonders for Bangladesh:
In Tests, Mashrafe has scored close to 800 runs which include three half-centuries. He has picked 78 wickets in the format for the Bangladeshi tigers.
