Sri Lanka has announced a 22-strong squad for their upcoming Test series against South Africa and England. Sri Lanka will travel to the rainbow nation for a two-match Test series, starting with the Boxing Day Test, post which they will take on the visiting English team at home in another series of two Test matches.
Star all-rounder and former skipper Angelo Matthews has been named in the squad but he will not be available for the Test series against South Africa after having suffered another hamstring injury while Kusal Perera, Dushmantha Chameera, and Dasun Shanaka have earned a recall to the national team.
The other notable inclusions in the 22-men squad are Minod Bhanuka, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Ashita Fernando while the uncapped duo of Santhush Gunathilake and Dilshan Madushanka could be in line for their Test debuts.
Sri Lanka will lock horns with South Africa in two ICC Test Championship matches, which will take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion between December 26-30 followed by the New Year Test at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, starting January 03.
Meanwhile, England has also confirmed the dates for their two ICC Test Championship matches against Sri Lanka. The two Tests will take place at Galle between January 14-18 and January 22-26.
