Matthew Hayden Suffers Horrific Injury, Shares Pictures On Social Media
In an unfortunate news, legendary batsman Matthew Hayden has suffered a horrific injury on his face. The details of the nasty-looking injury is not clear as of now but the pictures make it very clear that the former Australian batsman took quite a blow.
Hayden posted a couple of pictures on his Instagram account which shows his bruise and injuries. His first post read, “Took on Straddie back bank yesterday with @josh_hayden28 and lost!!! Game over for a few days.”
In his second post, he gave a detail about the injury. He also assured everyone that he is safe now, writing:
“Ok. Last attention seeking post I promise. Just wanted to say a big thank you to all our mates on Straddie who have been so supportive. Especially Ben & Sue Kelley for the fast diagnosis with MRI, CT scan. Fractured C6, torn C5,C4 ligaments safe to say I truly have dodged a bullet. Thank you everyone ❤️ On the road to recovery.”
One of the greatest openers the game has ever seen, Hayden was nothing less than a nightmare for the opposition teams in his playing days. Irrespective of the format, he dominated the opposition on most occasions.
Representing Australia in over 250 games, he scored over 14,000 runs with the help of 40 centuries. The left-handed batsman holds the record for the highest score made by an Australian batsman in Tests (380). His innings of 201 against India in Chennai remains the 2nd highest score by an Australian in India.
In 2017, Hayden was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
Hayden has donned the commentator’s hat after retiring from the game. He is regularly seen plying his trade in India especially during the Indian Premier League.
