Test cricket can make a player a better batsman, a better bowler or in Matthew Wade’s case Michael Jackson. The Australia star literally ended up doing Michael Jackson’s famous dance pose during the ongoing first Test between the hosts and New Zealand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Matthew Wade came out to bat when Australia lost their third wicket for 144.

And just like the last game in Perth, he was bombarded with bouncers by New Zealand pacer Neil Wagner. In the previous Test, Wagner had hit Wade more than half-a-dozen times with the ball and came up with the same strategy in the ongoing game too as he delivered a barrage of bouncers to the middle-order batsman.

The likes of Tim Southee and Trent Boult did not make things easy for Matthew Wade either. And on one occasion, the ball troubled the player so much, that he was sent into an uncomfortable position and ended up in an awkward position. The incident took place in the 65th over bowled by Trent Boult. It was a fierce yorker from the New Zealand pace spearhead and was aimed at the stumps.

Wade managed to keep the ball away from the stump but while doing so, he ended up in the awkward position. Later, Cricket.com.au’s official handle made a collage alongside Michael Jackson. In the picture, there is an uncanny resemblance between Wade and Jackson’s ‘gravity-defying tilt’.

“Wadey, are you ok? Are you ok, Wadey? #AUSvNZ,” cricket.com.au tweeted

Australia ahead:

Talking about the match, Australia claimed the opening day honours of the Boxing Day Test. Riding on fifties from Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, the hosts finished the day on a commanding 257 for 4. Smith was unbeaten on 77 while Travis Head was giving him company on 25.
