The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to celebrate the birth anniversary of ‘Bongobondhu’ Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, by hosting two T20 matches in March between the Asia XI and the World XI. As ICC set to give the game an International status, the participation of Indian players and Pakistan players combinedly was the major mystery.

The recent reports stated that it would be either India or Pakistan who will drop from being the part of Asia XI, which is to be played against World XI In Bangladesh. Amidst all the doubts, the BCCI Joint Secretary Jayesh George cleared the air stating that the situation like that will not appear, as Pakistan players weren’t invited to be part of Asia XI.

Speaking to IANS, BCCI Joint Secretary Jayesh George confirmed that no players from Pakistan would be part of Asia XI. It means that the question of both countries playing together or picking one over the other doesn’t arise for the games in Bangladesh. He also confirmed that Sourav Ganguly would decide the five Indian players, who will travel Bangladesh in the upcoming March.

“What we are aware of is that there will be no Pakistan players in the Asia XI. That is what the message is, so, there is no question of both countries coming together or picking one over the other. Sourav Ganguly will decide the five players who will be a part of the Asia XI,” Jayesh George said.

Things have been going from bad to worse in the recent past, as far as the relation with Pakistan is concerned. In the last one year, the episodes like Pulwama attack, and the offensive statements from the former cricketers or chief officials of Pakistan Cricket Board didn’t sit well with the Indian Cricket Board or the Indian Government.

Most recently, Ehsan Mani of Pakistan Cricket Board stated that the security situation in India is worse than in Pakistan and teams should ideally be happy to play in Pakistan. It ignited the war of words between the boards, with either board officials aren’t pleased with the comments.
