The final decision on the same was reached following a series of negotiations between the ECB and the Player’s Welfare Association.

“We have been working closely with the PCA to agree on player contract terms to cover this season and next,” an ECB spokesperson told the BBC.

The reduction in salary in the men’s competition for the 2021 season applies to the price brackets ranging from £30,000 to £125,000.

The governing body, however, decided not to impose the same reductions on women’s salary that ranges from £3600 to £15000 pounds.

“It has been important to us not to see cuts to women’s player salaries, and these remain unaltered for 2021,” the spokesperson said.

As far as holding a new draft is concerned, the ECB admitted that it would depend on a number of factors which includes the number of domestic limited-overs cricket played this summer, the availability of overseas players, the allocation of England central contracts and also if Kolpak players will remain in the county game or not.
