Former England skipper Michael Vaughan gave a fitting answer to a South Africa can after the latter accused England of stealing South Africa’s players. Following the defeat to India in the third Test, South Africa captain Faf du Plessis had said that South Africa’s cricket has been deeply hurt by the Kolpak deals.

In recent times, a number of South Africa players have taken the Kolpak deal for a better livelihood. Earlier this year, Duanne Olivier signed a three-year contract with Yorkshire, following fellow fast bowler Kyle Abbott, who joined Hampshire in 2017. During the same time, Rilee Rossouw had also done the same despite being a regular in South Africa’s ODI team.

Legendary pacer Morne Morkel had also joined Surrey although only after retiring from international cricket in 2018. Legendary batsman Hashim Amla is also set to sign for Surrey as a Kolpak registration. Amla announced his retirement from international cricket in August and has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with the club.

The exodus of the big names have definitely made South Africa cricket suffer and their recent struggle against India proved it. India thoroughly dominated the Proteas as they whitewashed them in the three-match Test series. After the third Test, Faf du Plessis admitted that Kolpak deals have hurt South Africa cricket. He also hoped that the situation will change once Brexit takes place.

Michael Vaughan, on the other hand, suggested that South Africa need to take help of their former players to get out of the tough situation. As soon as the third Test ended in Ranchi, Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to write.

“This South African Test team is a real concern for the game .. The game needs South Africa to be strong .. Time for  @markb46 to take over .. also why wouldn’t you use @GraemeSmith49 & @jacqueskallis75 is some capacity .. #INDvsSA

This is when one fan from South Africa lashed out at Michael Vaughan and accused England of stealing the Proteas players.

“Here’s the 1st of many Englishmen saying the world needs a strong SA team, while they’re the ones stealing all our players though Kolpak deals. Assholes,” wrote the fan.

However, Michael Vaughan was taking none of it and quickly responded. The Ashes-winning captain made it clear that South Africa players arrive in England for a better career and England have nothing to do with the recent exodus.

“We don’t steal .. they come because they get a better chance to have a career .. That’s what needs to change on SA .. They shouldn’t be having to leave ..,” tweeted Michael Vaughan.
