Mike Hesson, who is one of the front-runners in the race for the Indian head coach, called his time with Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League. The New Zealander felt that it is time for him to part ways with the franchise, which gave him a lot. The latest scenario might be a hint that Hesson would be in the frame of things for BCCI or in PCB.
The current head coach Ravi Shastri wants to continue in his position and is favoured to retain his spot. Meanwhile, Mike Hesson and former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody were among two high profile foreign applicants.

His departure from the franchise comes at a time when he has been associated with the India head coach job,. Especially, with the CoA-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) set to decide who gets the job this month.

In order to apply for the position, Hesson will have to give an affidavit to clear him of potential ‘conflict of interest’. This was the same problem that Gary Kirsten faced while applying for the women’s coach job. Perhaps, that could be the main reason behind Hesson calls curtains on his coaching stint with Punjab franchise.
I enjoyed my time – Mike Hesson
Releasing a statement on Twitter, Mike Hesson quoted that he has enjoyed his time with Kings XI Punjab. Further, Hesson also expressed his disappointment for not continuing with the team, which was trained to do the best in IPL 2020.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Kings XI franchise and wish to thank them for the season I had in charge. Whilst disappointed not to be able to build on the work we did this year, I’m sure success isn’t too far away for them. I wish them all the best for the future,” Hesson tweeted.
