David Warner might not have played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year’s Indian Premier League. However, there is absolutely no love lost between the franchise and its former skipper.

Warner was the batting mainstay of the side in the last four season. His runs in the last four editions are – 641, 848, 562, 528. In two of those editions, the left-hander Warner clinched the Orange Cap while in 2016, he finished second only to Virat Kohli.

Not only that, his captaincy was equally impressive as he led the side to the title in 2016. Last year, the team made it to the playoffs.

However, Warner missed this year’s action because of the ban imposed on him after the ball-tampering scandal. Cricket Australia had banned Warner for a year and the BCCI also followed suit.

The ban, however, did not stop the franchise keep track of their talisman. On Friday, the Sunrisers hailed Warner on Twitter after the southpaw’s blistering knock for Winnipeg Hawks in Global T20.  Warner made a return to competitive cricket in this league and after a string of failures, scored his maiden fifty on Friday.

The hard-hitting batsman scored 55 as his side thrashed Edmonton by 7 wickets in the elimination final. After the game, Sunrisers praised Warner’s knock on Twitter, tweeting:

And the Australian was quick to reply as he said he misses the franchises very much.

“Thanks guys @SunRisers miss Hyderabad very much,” he wrote.
