The comparison between India skipper Virat Kohli and his Pakistan counterpart Babar Azam refuses to die down. Babar has been drawing comparisons with the India batting star for quite some time now thanks to his impressive batting performances across formats.

Virat Kohli is already considered by many as an all-time great and is widely regarded as the best batsman across formats at present. When it comes to stats across formats, Virat Kohli is heads and shoulders above his contemporaries.

At just 31, Kohli has hit a staggering 70 centuries and 104 half-centuries in international cricket. With 43 tons to his name, he is second in the list of most centuries in ODIs. He is the only player in the world with average of more than 50 in all the three formats of the game.

On the other hand, Babar is also regarded as one of the best in the world. The Pakistan limited-overs captain averages more than 50 in ODIs and T20Is and has an average of over 45 in the longest format of the game. Just like Virat Kohli, the Pakistan star has also proved himself in almost all the parts of the world.

Mohammad Azharuddin on the comparison:

Recently, former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin was asked to comment on the comparison between the two batting stars. In reply, the batting great said that he doesn’t believe in comparisons. At the same time, he stated that Babar has the potential to become a top batsman for Pakistan in the future.

“Babar is still young and has a lot of cricket ahead of him. He has the ability to become a top batsman and register his name among the great Pakistani batsmen of the past,” Azharuddin was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

“I don’t believe in comparisons. If a batsman is good, then his batting should be enjoyed and he should be praised rather than comparing him with someone else,” he added.
