The saga surrounding Mohammad Hafeez’s Covid-19 tests has taken yet another surprising turn. As per latest reports, the veteran Pakistan allrounder has tested positive again. The whole fiasco started when Mohammad Hafeez decided to get himself tested again after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that he was one of the ten players who were tested positive.
The allrounder took to Twitter to post a picture of his medical report, confirming that he was not positive. The report from the private medical facility showed that he has tested negative. Miffed with his action, PCB had also given him a rap on the knuckles.
And the entire saga has now taken yet another twist with the player’s report coming positive again. According to a source in the board, the Shaukat Khanum Memorial hospital, which tested the players and officials did a retest of the earlier sample they had taken from Mohammad Hafeez and it again came positive for Covid-19.
“This is a very intriguing situation for the board. It will be interesting to see what is the result of the second test taken today of the 10 players, who tested positive in the first test earlier this week will come,” the source was quoted as saying by PTI.
The source said that if Mohammad Hafeez again tests positive on Saturday he is likely to face disciplinary action from the board as instead of going into isolation after the first test result, he preferred to do get a second test done. The PCB will announce the test result on Saturday.
If the second tests of the players who earlier tested positive again comes positive they will miss the tour of England. They will be replaced in the team by reserves and will have to undergo a quarantine process. Pakistan are scheduled to play three Tests and as many T20Is against England.
