The Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez yet again ended on the wrong side of things for his bowling action. After staying in the headlines for quite a few times for his illegal bowling action in International cricket, Mohammad Hafeez has once again received a suspension letter for his bowling action. This time, it was issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The veteran Pakistan cricketer was reported by the match officials, who officiated the Vitality Blast T20 match between Somerset and Middlesex in Taunton on August 30, 2019. After the initial complaints from the then match umpires, the bowling action of the Pakistan spinner was tested at the Loughborough University.

The game against Somerset was the penultimate match of Middlesex’s T20 season, in which Hafeez played four games, scoring 115 runs at a strike rate of 112.74, and taking two wickets while conceding 8.64 runs per over. Hafeez had signed on as a mid-season replacement for AB de Villiers.

I accept the Bowling Review Group Findings – Mohammad Hafeez

The Pakistani all-rounder received a bowling suspension after the Bowling Review Group concluded their hearing at Lord’s in London. In an official statement shared on Middlesex’s website, Hafeez has accepted the charges and wants to attend the independent analysis at ICC centre to get the eligibility.

“I have received the ECB Bowling Review Group report on my bowling action. Despite identifying procedural testing flaws, which have been accepted by the review committee, as well as realising the findings will potentially affect my reputation as a world-proven all-rounder, I accept the Bowling Review Group findings,” Hafeez said.

“As per ECB regulations, I am ready to appear for independent analysis at an ICC-accredited centre so that I become eligible to play in ECB-organised events,” he added.

Even though Mohammad Hafeez has been banned from bowling by the ECB, the Pakistani cricketer is still allowed to bowl in international cricket. Hafeez last played for Pakistan in July 2019 against Bangladesh in the World Cup. Currently, he is not in the scheme of things for Pakistan, but the experienced cricketer is hoping to put on a good show in a bid to represent Pakistan in IC T20I World Cup 2020.
