Usually, Social Media users wait for the content to have fun on that particular day. For Monday, it was Mohammad Irfan, who gave the content for the cricketing fanatics, as he claimed that Gautam Gambhir’s cricketing career has come to end following the duel between them. Meanwhile, fans couldn’t take it, as they came up with different opinions.

Gautam Gambhir is regarded as one of the best limited-overs cricketer India has ever produced. Before hanging up his boots to join the political arena, Gambhir played 147 ODIs for India, in which he scored 5,238 runs with 11 centuries and 34 fifties to his name. He also played 37 T20Is and was an integral part of India’s squad in the T20I World Cup win back in 2007.

Gautam Gambhir never gave me eye contact – Mohammad Irfan

Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan has recalled how Gautam Gambhir’s distinct discomfort while facing him during the 2012 bilateral series literally finished the Indian opener’s white-ball career. Standing tall at 7ft 1 inch, Irfan dismissed Gambhir four times during that limited-overs series (T20s and ODIs).

The southpaw played only one more white-ball series for India (vs England) before being dropped. Mohammad Irfan quoted that Gautam Gambhir has always failed to get better off him in the middle. He further revealed that Gambhir hasn’t even given him an eye-to-eye contact either in net sessions or during the course of the match.

“When I played against India, they were not comfortable batting against me. Some of them told me in the 2012 series in India that they couldn’t sight my ball properly because of my height and also didn’t read my pace,” Irfan told Samaa channel, as quoted by PTI.

“He (Gambhir) didn’t like to face me in a match or when both teams had nets, I always felt he avoided eye to eye contact with me. I remember I got out him four times in the limited over series in 2012 and he was unnerved against me,” he added.
