Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a clean chit to India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami against the match-fixing charges brought against him.

Meanwhile, on March 7, Shami’s wife, Hasin brought an array of accusations against the India pacer. Hasin charged paceman Shami with domestic violence and extra-marital affairs. In a series of claims made by her last week, she also claimed Shami had fixed matches. Moreover, filed a written complaint against Shami.

Kolkata Police has booked Shami under various non-bailable and bailable sections of the IPC; including Section 498A, which deals with cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives, Section 307 – attempt to murder, Section 323 – punishment for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 376 – rape, Section 506 – criminal intimidation, Section 328 and Section 34.

However, Shami had dismissed all the allegations and urged for a thorough investigation into the allegations. He also said it is a conspiracy to ruin his career.

“Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter,” stated the BCCI release, dated March 22.

Meanwhile, CoA head Vinod Rai handed the case to BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit and asked them to submit reports within seven days. Meanwhile, post a thorough investigation, BCCI has now cleared Shami of any match-fixing charges.

Further, Shami Shami has been handed a Grade B annual contract by the Committee of Administrators (CoA). Also, he will represent the Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming Indian Premier League.

Although, Kolkata Police will investigate the charges of domestic violence and adultery.
