Once again, Mohammed Shami is in troubled waters following the arrest warrant to him. The flamboyant cricketer had a decent few months in the game of cricket but unfortunately, he struck with pain yet again in the personal life. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, gave Shami and his brother Hasid Ahmed 15 days to surrender and apply for bail.

In early 2018, Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had accused him of domestic violence. Shami and his brother were booked for domestic violence under IPC Section 498A. Since Hasin Jahan made the allegations, Mohammed Shami did not appear before court following which the ACJM gave the order.

Mohammed Shami was part of the recently concluded Test series against West Indies where he finished with 9 wickets in 2 matches. Following the victory, Mohammed Shami went to the US to spend his time there. However, he is still in touch with the lawyer and set to return to India on September 12th.

Mohammed Shami is in regular touch with the lawyer:

Speaking to IANS, a senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) functionary said that the fast bowler will return to India on September 12, and till then he is in touch with his lawyer Salim Rahaman.

“Shami has gone to the US after the tour of West Indies got over and he will be back in the country on the 12th. He has been in constant touch with his lawyer on the court matter and has also spoken to the relevant people within the board on the matter,” the functionary said.

It is too early to take a call –

Further, the official added that the board will wait for now, as they don’t want to involve in the personal life of Mohammed Shami. However, he added that board will take action after seeing the arrest warrant issued to him.

“Yes, we do understand that an arrest warrant has been issued. But don’t really see us getting involved in this at this point in time. Once we see the charge sheet, we can decide how things stand and if the BCCI constitution calls for any action. But at this point in time, I would say it is too early to take a call on the matter,” the functionary had said.

Well, it would be interesting to see whether he will get the nod for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. If Shami’s lawyer fails to get Shami out of trouble, mostly, Shami would miss the upcoming series.
