Mohammed Shami Proud to be a Part of India's Bowling Attack

The Indian National Cricket Team will enter the ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales as one of the favourites to win the trophy starting from May 30. Apart from their batting and the spin unit, the Men in Blues have strong, fast bowling attack which makes them a dominant force in the marquee event. Mohammed Shami, who will be a crucial component of that attack, feels proud to be a part of this bowling setup.

Meanwhile, the selectors have picked Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the three specialists fast bowler. Besides, Hardik Pandya will don the role of the fourth seamer while Vijay Shankar will chip in with few overs when necessary. The Indian bowling have done exceptionally well in the last 18 months picking wickets all over the globe. Many have tipped it to be India’s best bowling attack ever for the World Cup.

However, the transition in the bowling department hasn’t come overnight. The management has created a pool of bowlers who have the perfect mix of skills and pace to push opposition batsmen on the backfoot. Speaking about their weapon, Mohammed Shami said that having skills and pace together has increased their confidence. The Bengal pacer also added that he is proud to be a part of the bowling unit which is one of the best in the world.
“The best part is that along with variety, we have an attack that can bowl fast. Having skills and pace together is the USP of this side as that somewhere increases the confidence of the attack. To be honest, it is like a dream that has come true and I feel very proud that today people talk about our bowling unit as one of the best — a thing that wasn’t heard much but is now called our strength,” Shami told IANS.

Mohammed Shami, who last played an ODI game in 2015, returned last year to seal a berth for the World Cup. Recently, he bagged the man of the match award during the ODI series against Australia and will look to keep up the good work when India begin their campaign on June 5 against South Africa. In conclusion, Shami said that he always had the belief in himself despite not getting opportunities which have worked wonders for him.
