Indian speedster Mohammed Shami currently finds himself in hot waters as his name has been excluded from the Annual Player Contract list released by the BCCI on Wednesday. Shami, who bagged 15 wickets in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, was the leading pacer for the visitors.

Hasin Jaha, Shami’s wife, claimed that the bowler is having multiple extra-marital affairs simultaneously.
“I was silent because he has been asking for a divorce for two years. He has been torturing me, he tried everything to make me leave him,” Jahan told India Today.
His wife also added that Shami’s family has threatened her and she was tortured too.
“Shami forced me to put up that Facebook post. I thought one day things would be fine but five years have gone by and things are worse now. I have been mentally and physically tortured,” she added.

According to Wisden India, a BCCI source has revealed that the cricketer was supposed to be in the Group B of the latest contracts, but his name has been put on hold, following a complaint filed by a member of his family.
Another source shed light on the incident by saying that the pacer is very much in the Team India’s plans and a few things need to be verified before his name gets cleared. It will be interesting to see how this entire episode gets panned out since Shami is one of India’s top pacers at the current time.

“Shami is very much in the scheme of things and his contract is just put on hold. We need to verify a few things before getting to the bottom of the matter. Ideally, the current controversy regarding Shami and his family should have been looked into by the ethic committee of the BCCI. But, since there is no such provision as of now, a final call will be taken only after a conclusion is reached. While the matter could be debated both ways because the claims against Shami has nothing to do with his cricketing career, it was felt that the wait and watch policy is the right way forward.” a source told Cricketnext.
The cricketers will earn a lot more money than what they had been fetching so far. Grade A+: Rs 7 Cr, Grade A: Rs 5 Cr, Grade B: Rs 3 Cr, Grade C: Rs 1 Cr. Last year, there was no Grade A+ in the list while Grade A players used to get Rs 2 Cr and Grade B and C cricketers received Rs 1 Cr and Rs 50 Lakh respectively.
