Virat Kohli & Co will look to bounce back from their shocking ICC World Cup 2019 exit. They will go up against West Indies in a three-match ODI and T20I series along with two-match Test series as a part of the World Test Championship. Post the World Cup, talks of issues between the senior players to rumours that some senior members of the team were not happy with one cricketer breaking the ‘family clause’, the Indian team have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Kohli will be desperate to pull all this behind with consecutive victories.

However, they received a blow just before flying off as the US embassy initially rejected Mohammed Shami’s visa application. The Bengal pacer landed in deep trouble when his estranged wife Hasin Jahan labelled charges of domestic violence, adultery, and match-fixing last year. Shami has denied all the allegations, and the case is still running in the court. As per reports, the USA rejected his applications on the grounds of domestic violence and adultery. However, it was only after BCCI CEO Rahul Johri‘s intervention, they agreed to issue him a clearance.

“Yes, Shami’s visa application was initially rejected by the US embassy. It was found that his police verification record was incomplete. However now it has been sorted and all the required documents have been furnished,” a BCCI source privy to the developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity. “Once the visa application got rejected, CEO Rahul Johri wrote a letter of request, citing Shami’s achievements including participation in multiple World Cups. Also, the documents were furnished,” he informed.
